About Us
We specialize in functional medicine, which works to address the "root cause" of your symptoms, and treat you in the most natural way possible. Prior to your initial visit, we will order comprehensive lab work for you so we can get a good picture of your current health. Unlike most doctors, your initial appointment with us is approximately 60 minutes. This time allows Dr. Boyd to listen to your concerns, review your lab work with you, and develop a unique plan to help you feel better.
We also offer you many natural treatments to improve your health, such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy, IV therapy, PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments and FDA-approved laser therapy for hair restoration.
We treat patients with many different health problems. If you would like to find out if we treat your particular concerns, please email us and we will contact you within two business days. However, we do not treat Lyme disease or Autism Spectrum Disorder as you need a medical professional who has been specially trained in these areas.
Yes, a significant number of our patients are men. We treat men with many different symptoms and diseases, most often for testosterone replacement therapy. Additionally, some men come to the clinic for laser treatments for hair restoration and PRP procedures, such as orthopedic treatments or the P-Shot.
Yes! While we see children for many different issues, we don't replace your primary care doctor who treats colds, does wellness checks or school physicals.
We do not treat colds, conduct physicals, or provide routine medical treatments. You will need to see your primary care doctor for these things.
Yes, we give Vitamin B12, Iron, and Testosterone injections.
As with any desire to lose weight, a commitment to making diet and lifestyle changes is necessary in order to be successful in becoming healthy. However, sometimes other health problems can get in the way of your weight loss, so we start out by getting a good picture of your overall health. From there, we make recommendations to help you enjoy eating in a way that will not only help you lose weight, but give you more energy so you look and feel great.
We have supplements available for purchase when you are in the clinic, or you can request that we ship your supplements to you. There is a minimum charge of $5.00 for shipping and handling.
IV's
We offer many IV formulations, but our most commonly prescribed IV's are a Myer's cocktail or a Multimineral/Multivitamin IV.
The cost depends on the type of IV, and whether you purchase a single IV or an IV package.
The main reason for giving nutrients intravenously is because they go directly into your bloodstream to fuel your cells. That means they avoid the potential loss of potency and poor absorption in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract that happens when nutrients are taken orally. This makes receiving IV therapy a powerful therapy for many different symptoms, including chronic fatigue, dehydration, asthma, poor gastrointestinal absorption, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, and immune system deficiencies.
A Myer's cocktail contains vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium, calcium and other minerals, and takes about 15 minutes to administer. A Multimineral/Multivitamin IV has similar vitamins and minerals, but has 50-100 times more vitamin C and higher amounts of the other vitamins and minerals. It takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete.
You will need to be a patient in order to be prescribed an IV. Once you are a patient and Dr. Boyd has prescribed IV's for you, you can request that we order your IV. We take payment at the time you request the IV. Once we receive the IV medicines at the clinic, we call you to schedule an appointment. It takes anywhere between 4-10 days for us to receive your IV medicines.
Hormones
Yes. We only prescribe bio-identical hormones to balance your testosterone, progesterone and estrogen.
It is the most natural form of hormone therapy, and the only kind we prescribe for our patients.
While hormone replacement therapy has been around for decades, often times synthetic hormones (not like what your body would make) have been used. Synthetic hormones have been linked to diseases such as breast cancer, heart attack, stroke, and blood clots.
Women need hormones for many pathways in the body. For example, hormones support the bones, brain, skin, heart, bloods vessels, and vaginal lining. Women may experience hormone fluctuations throughout their lives. These imbalances may be due to environmental or lifestyle issues, as well as normal life changes such as perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause, or pregnancy. Imbalances of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone can cause hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, trouble sleeping, irregular or heavy periods, depression, low sex drive and anxiety.
Estrogen is not the only hormone that you are lacking during menopause. You need progesterone and testosterone, as well, to provide balance, even if you have had a hysterectomy. When you lack progesterone and testosterone, you may experience fatigue, irritability, weight gain, insomnia, loss of bone density, and little or no sex drive.
In our 20's to 40's, hormone imbalances can cause irregular (sometimes heavy) periods, PMS symptoms, headaches, and fatigue. Some women have a hard time maintaining a pregnancy because of low progesterone. By correcting a woman's hormone levels throughout her life with bio-identical hormone therapy (BHRT) if needed, and lifestyle changes, symptoms can be reduced or eliminated, improving overall health and well-being.
If you have low testosterone, you may have various symptoms including lack of energy, decreased motivation, irritability, problems sleeping, night sweats, loss of muscle mass, weight gain and often lack of sex drive or problems with erections. Some men suffer fatigue and insomnia, yet have no problem with sex drive or erections. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may benefit significantly by having your testosterone levels checked.
Yes. We typically treat low testosterone with cream, injections, or pellets. However, there are other ways that can raise your testosterone level, in addition to just taking testosterone. Dr. Boyd will discuss these with you if you are a candidate.
Hormone implants are small, cylinder-shaped, compressed pellets of testosterone or estradiol which, after insertion, will slowly release these hormones over a period of 3-5 months. Patients will often choose pellets instead of weekly testosterone injections.
The procedure for inserting pellets is done in the clinic, is quick and relatively pain free. It involves a quick injection of Lidocaine to numb the area. Once there is no feeling in the area, a very small incision is made and the pellets are placed under the skin, near the hip. Special medical tape is used to seal the incision and the procedure is complete. Most patients are able to go about their normal daily activities, but need to refrain from swimming, heavy exercise and showering for 24 hours so the wound can heal.
Appointments
Prior to scheduling an appointment, you will need to complete and submit your New Patient Female or Male paperwork to us. You can find the paperwork on our website under New Patient. Simply type in your information, save the file to your hard drive, and then attach to an email addressed to info@forwardhealthsolutions.com, or print and fax to 601-450-2079. Normally, we will call you to schedule an appointment upon receipt of your paperwork. If you have not heard from us within 48 hours of emailing the paperwork, please call us at 601-450-2077.
In addition to scheduling your appointment with a provider, we will also schedule your appointment to have lab work done. If you are having your lab work done elsewhere, we will send you a lab order to take with you.
We offer our Female Lab Panel for $478, and the Male Panel for $498. We highly recommend you print out the Initial Panel of Tests and ask your insurance company if they will pay for those labs in full, or if you will have to pay a co-pay. Our Initial Panel runs between $1500 and $5000 at outside labs, so it may be less expensive for you to have your tests done at our clinic.
Our Initial Patient Appointment is generally an hour long.
Dr. Boyd's initial appointments are $350; follow-ups are $150.
Dr. Boyd will discuss your medical history and listen to your concerns. She will show you your test results, explaining what they mean. Then, she will create a unique treatment plan to optimize your blood levels and start you on a new path to improved health.
Generally, your follow-up appointment (typically 30 minutes) will be within 4-6 weeks after your initial visit to make sure you are improving and to adjust your treatment program if needed. The next follow-up will be within 2-3 months after the second visit. After that, you will be seen every 3-6 months, depending on how you are doing. Many of our patients are seen only twice a year. If you have more complicated issues, we will see you more frequently.
Yes, as a courtesy to you, we try to remind you of your Doctor and Lab appointments by an automated message or by text message. To receive a reminder by text, text the letters FHS to 622622
Our automated calling system will call you:
2 business days prior to your Lab appointment at Forward Health Solutions
2 business days prior to your Doctor appointment
10 business days prior to your Doctor appointment to remind you to have your blood drawn if you are not having your blood drawn at Forward Health Solutions
If you are unable to make your appointment because you are sick, your car breaks down or some other reason where transportation is an issue, you can request a phone consult. However, we will need to see you for your initial appointment.
If you call us 24-business hours ahead of time (e.g. Friday morning for a Monday morning appointment), we will cancel your appointment without charge.
If you "no show" or fail to give us 24-business hour notice, you will be charged $100. We do this because we have given you a time slot that we could have given to another patient.
Labs
Prior to your initial appointment, we require an initial set of fasting labs. If you are having periods, this should be done on day 21 of your menstrual cycle. Day 1 is the first day you menstruate, and you count from there.
We generally schedule an appointment for children prior to ordering lab work. However, if we will feel we need a child's lab work before an appointment, we will normally reduce the number of lab tests required, depending on their ages.
3-5 business days prior to my appointment (Forward Health Solutions lab)
10-12 business days prior to my appointment (outside labs)
Yes, we do tests at our clinic at a reduced rate.
We offer our Female Lab Panel for $478, and the Male Panel for $498. At other labs, our Initial Panel runs between $1200 and $5000, so it may be less expensive for you to have your tests done at our clinic.
For adults, we run an Initial Panel prior to your first appointment. We evaluate your liver, kidneys, thyroid, hormones, adrenals, cholesterol, cardiovascular risk as well as measuring inflammation.
Insurance and Payments
We require payment in full at the time of your appointment, service, or supplement purchase.
No, we do not accept or file insurance for our patients. However, we will we will provide you with a receipt so you can submit a claim to your insurance company.
As policies vary, even from the same insurance company, we recommend you verify your coverage with your insurance company. Typically insurance companies will not pay for the services we offer our patients.
We have "opted out" of Medicare as they do not pay for most of our services and supplements. This means, in order for us to see you, you will need to sign a Medicare contract with Forward Health Solutions indicating you will not file a claim with Medicare.
However, if you have secondary insurance, you will need to submit the normal Medicare Claim form, but write for DENIAL PURPOSES ONLY in large letters on the top and bottom of the form. Once Medicare has denied your claim, you are able to submit a claim to your secondary insurance.
